Dark Poetry by Darkheart
This site represents life's journey through the eyes of depression.  It is my hope that others will find meaning in these words, recognize themselves perhaps, and know that they are not alone.  There is new work published in the 2nd issue at Dark Eye Glances.com..."Where Weeps the Silver Willow".  Please feel free to visit my other dark poetry sites www.poetryconcerto-darkpoetry.com   & Dark Whispers~A Dark Poetry Blog                                                                                                               Cindy/Darkheart

The Motherless Child

Something is missing in a motherless child
The soul ripped out by her mother's last breath
Its trapped in her casket
Her final place of rest

It screams to get out
Though its pleas go unheard
I have learned to live without it
Like "life" is just a word

Existing through the years
With this gaping hole inside
Replacing that missing piece
An eternal need to hide

Afraid to get too close
For something is wrong with me
I feel too much or too little
I do not know how to be

I live with this knowledge
That I can run for miles
But I will never stop being
A motherless child
