Atrophy
To die a slow death
Like the atrophy of time
Each minute a millenia
Each breath begets a sigh
She did not opt for
A bath of blood and water
She did not opt to
Sway from the rafters
Vodka binges and stomach pumps
Meager attempts to end it all
Are what made her feel
Alive

Broken
People walking past a man
Dying on the sidewalk
Government sanctioned formaldehyde homes
In a trailer park
Dump trucks delivering bodies
To fill mass graves
Feet and arms rise up
To point and blame
A new breed of homeless
Formerly middle class
School and workplace discord
Settled with shotgun blasts
Detroit streets flow
With the blood of innocent children
Like their lives do not matter
To a desensitized system

Get a Rope
For executing horse thieves
Or those of the wrong
color
To a sauce made in New York
Instead of Texas- the commercial's
druther
Dragging a man behind a truck
Until his head pops off in
capitulation
Erotic games in a closet
Another form of
masturbation
A crude form of suicide
When one is at the end of their
rope

You are Mine
So long he had watched her
And finally she was his
He worshipped every curve
Her body had to give
He tied her with scarves
So careful not to bruise
Dabbed the corners of her mouth
When he fed her at noon
Too driven by obsession
To notice she never resisted
It showed undying love
Not something dark and twisted
The time had finally come
For her to meet his manhood
Together they would now love
But he misunderstood
For when he entered her warmth
He felt something sharp inside
Teeth held him in place
As she whispered you are mine

Deirdre's Lullaby
I made up a lullaby
To sing to my sweet Dee Dee
It makes her coo and giggle
As her eyes get heavy
"Sleep sweet, sweet Dee Dee
Don't worry about a thing
The angels dance around you
As you hear your mommy sing"
The rocking chair creeks
To the sound of the tune
Dee Dee is as restless
As the breeze that fills the room
I wrap my Dee Dee snugly
She gets so cold these days
Her bones became so brittle
From exposure and decay
I could not bear the thought
Of my Dee Dee all alone
I dug her up to comfort her
And sing to her this song
"Sleep sweet, sweet Dee Dee
Don't worry about a thing
The angels dance around you
As you hear your mommy sing

Exsanguination
Why am I so attracted to this word
Is it due to my penchant for the macabre
My love of all things vampire before corruption by youth
Or is it simply because I am disturbed, perhaps a bit odd
I thought it sounded delicious
When first I heard the word
To the dictionary I ran
To get to know this word
I thought of stealing life from evil
A Robin Hood of sorts
I'd kill those who are deserving
Make a gift of their corpse

Stained Lives
The room is filled with
The stench of stained lives
Hollowed eyes and souls
The empathy deprived
This is where they end up
The Jane Does of the world
On a cold slab in a cold room
Nameless faces on a mural
The indigent the runaways
The victims of abuse
In alleys in fields
Or an underwater ruse
To clean what is left
Of their stained lives
Place tags on their toes
Wipe tears from their eyes
